Description

This scan was performed for the assesment of the effects of climate change and ocean acidification on marine gastropods within the ECCO project (https://ecco.hcmr.gr/). Micro-CT was performed to Hexaplex trunculus gastropods which were maintained under low pH and ambient temperature. For this specimen, no contrast agent was used. Scan was performed with a Skyscan 1172 at a voltage of 100kV and 100μΑ with an aluminium and copper filter for a half rotation of 180o . Images were acquired at a pixel size of 13.79μm with an exposure time of 2480ms. Specimen was provided and scanned by Eva Chatzinikolaou.

Description

Micro-CT was performed to an isopod. This specimen was fixed and preserved in 96% ethanol. Specimen was dried with HMDS. Scan was performed with a Skyscan 1172 at a voltage of 40kV and 250μΑ without filter for a full rotation of 360o . This specimen was scanned at the highest camera resolution with an exposure time of 455ms. This scan was performed for testing visualization techniques of several marine organisms. Specimen was provided and scanned by Sarah Faulwetter.

Description

Micro-CT was performed to a small bivalve Musculus costulatus. This specimen was fixed and preserved in 96% ethanol. Specimen was stained in 0.3% PTA solution in 70% ethanol for 5 days. Scan was performed with a Skyscan 1172 at a voltage of 59kV and 167μΑ without filter for a full rotation of 360o . This specimen was scanned at the highest camera resolution with an exposure time of 1555ms. This scan was performed for testing contrast enhancing techniques for the application of micro-CT in marine biodiversity studies (http://www.microscopy-analysis.com/sites/default/files/2013_March_Faulw…). Specimen was provided and scanned by Sarah Faulwetter.
